Burglary - Residential - Pinewood Close - Borehamwood |

Dear Resident,
Around 5:26am a burglary took place at Pinewood Close, Borehamwood.
At 0526 (3) OFFENDERS have jumped over the wooden garden fence for the back garden which is accessed via an alleyway between two properties. The OFFENDERS have pulled open the wooden doors for the conservatory situated at the rear of victims address and removed a pedal cycle which was stored in the conservatory.
OFFENDERS have then thrown the bike over the rear garden fence where they have jumped back over and made off in an unknown direction. The alleyway leads in two directions, behind other houses on PINEWOOD CLOSE or out into BANKS ROAD and LEIGH COURT. A WITNESS has has seen the bike being ridden, two up, into the alleyway off of STUDIO WAY down the side of TOBY CARVERY away from scene.
All three (3) OFFENDERS were wearing gloves and balaclavas. Upon review of CCTV at the location, one OFFENDER is seen to enter the rear garden at 0302 hours but appears to have been spooked and leaves immediately.

Tips to prevent burglary:
Check downstairs windows and doors are securely locked before you leave or go to bed. Secure UPVC doors by lifting the handle and locking it to engage the security features. Don’t leave keys, phones or other valuables on windowsills or in any other visible place. Securely lock rear gates, sheds and garages. Keep tools and ladders locked away, as they could be used to break into your home. Use laminate glass where possible for any rear doors or windows. If this is not practicable, consider the use of security film over existing windows. Use a “Fake TV” or timer switches on lamps to give the impression someone is at home. Consider using a doorbell camera, interior camera, or a monitored burglar alarm. Consider adding trellis to any side or rear boundaries to add extra height up to a maximum of 2 metres.
